Speaker of the Emirati Federal National Council, Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, on Monday reiterated her country's support for Morocco's position on the Sahara issue.


During talks in Rabat with Head of Government, Saad Dine El Otmani, Al Qubaisi stressed that the sovereignty of Morocco cannot be the subject of any dispute or controversy, said a statement of the Department of the Head of Government. The Emirati official commended HM King Mohammed VI's call for the opening of dialogue with Algeria, noting that the royal initiative is likely to settle the divergences between the two neighboring countries. She also lauded the stability and the level of development enjoyed by the Kingdom and praised the development of relations between the two countries. She also expressed her country's willingness to further develop its relations with the Kingdom, particularly in the areas of higher education, handicraft and sustainable development. For his part, El Otmani expressed his thanks for the Emirati support to Morocco regarding the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara. He also welcomed the strong political relations between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, while highlighting efforts made to further strengthen bilateral ties including in the economic and cultural sectors. These talks took place in the presence of the Emirati ambassador to Morocco and members of the UAE Federal National Council.
