The recent adoption by the European Parliament of the agriculture agreement between Morocco and the European Union (EU) demonstrates the willingness of the two sides to build strong and stable relations, Spanish minister of agriculture, fisheries and food, Luis Planas, said Saturday in Berlin.

"The adoption by the European Parliament of the Morocco-EU agriculture agreement is a very important act, which is not only a green light for the marketing of agricultural products, but also shows the willingness to build strong and stable relations between the two sides,” Planas told reporters on the sidelines of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (17-19 Jan), held as part of Berlin's annual International Green Week.

Planas, who deemed this adoption as "very positive", expressed the wish that the new fisheries agreement between Morocco and the EU "would follow the same path in the weeks or months to come".

"We will work actively in this direction," he said.

The European Parliament adopted on Wednesday the agricultural agreement between Morocco and the European Union by 444 votes to 167.

Morocco was represented at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture by minister of agriculture, fisheries, rural development, water and forests, Aziz Akhannouch.
