Members of an important Chilean senate delegation, who are visiting Morocco, flew last Wednesday to Laayoune.



During their meeting with members of the council of the region of Laayoune- Boujdour-Sakia-Elhamra, as well as with members of the city council MR Munoz-Barra who is also the chairman of the Chilean –Moroccan friendship group confirmed the full support of his country to the Moroccan territorial integrity “all historical and legal and cultural data prove that the Sahara is Moroccan” he added “we are more than ever convinced of the just Moroccan position concerning this issue”

Mr Barra greeted developments efforts made by morocco in various fields “ links and exchanges are strengthened even more between Moroccan and Chilean people” he said

Elected members of the council of Laayoune have expressed their consideration to the position of members of the Chilean delegation regarding the Moroccan territorial integrity, they equally expressed their pride as to the Moroccan initiative to grant autonomy to the region of Sahara within the kingdom sovereignty, and the aim of such initiative to allow inhabitants of the region to run their own affairs under the Moroccan sovereignty,
The sahrawi elected members confirmed to the Chilean delegation that the Moroccan initiative aims at breaking with the previous plans which proved not to be applicable, taking into account that the Moroccan proposal for a substantial autonomy will have no winner and no looser.
 It is notable that the Chilean delegation was given an overall explanation, by the president of the council of the region of Laayoune-Boujdour-sajia-el hamra Mr Sidi hamdi ould errachid, interim president of the council about powers and the functioning of the elected council in the region
 MR Munoz Barra who is equally the chairman of Chilean senate foreign affairs commission is paying with the rest of the Chilean delegation a working visit to the kingdom of Morocco until the 26th of July.
