A delegation of the joint Moroccan-Spanish Commission in the field of sea fishing paid a visit to Dakhla, February 15 through 18 to learn about investment opportunities offered by the region in this sector.


This visit was part of the periodic meeting of the joint Moroccan-Spanish Maritime Fisheries Commission, MAP told the regional president of the General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco (CGEM) in the southern provinces, Mohamed Lamine Hormatallah.


Initiated by CGEM, this visit is an opportunity to support and defend common interests in the framework of the fisheries agreement between Morocco and European Union (EU), he said, noting that a meeting of the Joint Moroccan-Spanish Commission was planned to discuss developments in the sea fisheries dossier and future of cooperation between the two parties with the aim of completing the project for the renewal of the agreement and meet the challenges posed.


In this regard, he emphasized the importance of this meeting and role by the marine fisheries sector as an essential development engine in the southern provinces.


As part of this tour, the delegation of the Moroccan-Spanish joint commission visited an industrial unit for fish freezing and packing in Dakhla where explanations were provided on how the plant works, production stages and seafood processing.


The delegation also held a meeting at the Regional Investment Center in Dakhla in the presence of economic actors from the region during which the members of the delegation became aware of the potential of the territory in the sea fishing and investment sector by the State to develop the region.
