"The Sahara, which has always been a Moroccan land, is an integral part of the Kingdom of Morocco", said two Argentinean experts in international relations, Adalberto Carlos Agozino and Daniel Romero, considering that autonomy plan, described as realistic and generous solution, is the only way to turn the page of an artificial conflict that has lasted for more than four decades.

The two experts, who were the guests Wednesday evening in Buenos Aires of the new periodic meeting of the Pole of the Maghreb Arab Press Agency (MAP) in South America under the theme "Autonomy Plan Final  Solution to the Artificial Conflict around Moroccan Sahara ", affirmed that the Sahara, like the other regions of Morocco, is an integral part of the territory of the Kingdom, which has never been a territory without a master (terra nullius), but has always been a Moroccan land.

In this sense, Mr. Agozino, researcher in political science at the "John F. Kennedy" University in Buenos Aires, said that autonomy proposal "is generous, realistic and represents a good viable initiative that can contribute to a solution based on legal and logical bases without winner or loser", adding that "any request outside this framework and above this ceiling is pure fantasy".

And the author of the book "La Geopolítica del Sahara-Sahel" (The Geopolitics of the Sahara-Sahel, 2013) adds that autonomy will allow Sahrawis to manage their own affairs through institutions elected in the framework of Moroccan sovereignty, noting that the initiative is serious and credible in accordance with international law.

In the opinion of the Argentinean academician, the world is now more realistic and logical and no longer depends on obsolete ideologies, saying in this context the series of withdrawals from many countries of their recognition of the puppet entity and stressing that separatism poses a threat to world peace and that the countries of the world can not jeopardize their territorial integrity and allow the creation of micro-states that would be easy prey for terrorists.

During this meeting, marked by the presence of a plethora of academics, researchers and media professionals, Mr. Agozino drew a historical overview of this regional conflict created from scratch by Algeria, since the recovery by Morocco of its Sahara from the hands of the Spanish colonizers following the Glorious Green March and maneuvers with which Algiers has never ceased to thwart the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

Having stressed that the Sahara was historically a Moroccan land, as evidenced by the ties of allegiance between the Sultans of Morocco and Saharawi tribes, the Argentinean expert reaffirmed that the conflict around the Sahara would never have existed without actions of Algiers, which created it "and which today has to adopt a good-neighborly policy with Morocco and stop supporting Polisario, which is in reality a terrorist organization which has led for more than a decade terrorist operations".

For his part, the Argentinian expert, Daniel Romero, who is director of the independent Argentinean news agency "Total News", said that in the face of the Moroccan initiative of advanced autonomy, Plosario separatists are always hostages of outdated ideologies and speeches by retreating behind the slogans of "self-determination" or threat of a return to arms, in a total denial of the fact that the autonomy proposed by Morocco for ten years, and which the international community has described as serious and credible, is a form of self-determination.

He adds that the separatist thesis no longer convinces anyone today and that from year to year the wave of withdrawal of recognition continues in Latin America or in Africa and other parts of the world, deploring that Polisario has made Tindouf camps a big prison where he sequesters people in inhuman conditions by haggling over their disarray and inflating the figures of the said population in order to benefit from international humanitarian aid that is systematically misused.

The Argentinian expert emphasized that most of the aid does not reach its destination and is marketed on the black market to buy real estate in Spain on behalf of Polisario leaders, mentioning in this context the conclusions of the report of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) which confirms the systematic embezzlement of international humanitarian aid for the sequestered people of Tindouf camps.
In this regard, he explained that many organizations understood from OLAF's disclosure of fraudulent practices of Polisario that humanitarian aid was not reaching its true destination, thus pushing them to suspend such aid, noting that Polisario and its mentors prolong this conflict in order to continue to enrich themselves to the detriment of the sequestered population.

He concluded that only autonomy would put an end to human rights violations in the Tindouf camps where prisoners are starving and where the most egregious forms of slavery are practiced, especially against women and children, affirming that the international community is called to put an end to these atrocities committed by Polisario.

MAP in South America, headquartered in Buenos Aires, organizes periodic meetings in the presence of local and international media, with different personalities, to highlight current issues that concern relations between Morocco and Latin America.
