Corcas works of the extraordinary sesssion concluded on Friday evening in Laayoune at the Palais des Congrès, pursuant to the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.



The Council debated during this session on the latest developments regarding the Moroccan territorial unity in the light of direct negotiations between the parties on 18 and 19 of this month at Manhasset.

At the end of this session, Mr. Maoulainain Ben Khalihenna, the Council’s Secretary-General a message of loyalty and dedication to His Majesty King Mohammed VI from the President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs at his name and on behalf of all members of the Council.

The works of this session that his Majesty the King ordered to take place opened on Friday, with the presence of the Minister of Interior Mr. Chakib Benmoussa and Minister Delegate of the Interior Mr. Fouad Ali Himma.

Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid said that, "This special session ordered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him to examine the developments concerning the Sahara issue and in particular with regard to the first round of negotiations that took place in the suburbs of New York around a final solution to this issue, was an occasion to display the details of the course of these negotiations. "

He said in a statement to the press following the conclusion of this session, "The Council members discussed and agreed constructively on the way followed by these negotiations, and the attitude of the Moroccan delegation in relation to the conduct of these negotiations."

The positions of the members of the Council supported the initiatives of His Majesty the King to establish the final solution, which is "a solution recognized by all as through the application of self-government initiative, as a final, just and comprehensive solution to satisfy all parties and considered by international law as a real self-determination."

The head of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs added, "We want to say to our brothers in the Polisario Front that they should know that the Sahara issue requires a great deal of realism and a lot of compromise to find a solution satisfactory to all, (...)self-determination is satisfactory to all" .

He added, "I ask them to do so in New York and recognize that political issues could be resolved only through compromise and consensus."
