The delegation held at the Council of the European Union meeting with Mr. Christian Gourette President of Middle East and the Mediterranean basin department, during which it referred to the recent developments of the Sahara issue and the efforts of the Kingdom for a final settlement of this issue.
The delegation of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs held a new series of meetings with leading political groups, especially at the European Parliament and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, the European Socialist Group and the Group of European People's Party.
Thus, the delegation met with Mr. José Ignacio Slafranca team member of the Bureau of the European People's Party, Philippe Morillon (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) and the Chairman of the Committee for Fishing Ignace Guardan Campo, member of the Office in the same coalition.
At the conclusion of these meetings, the Vice-President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs said that the Moroccan delegation presented to the European mps an overview of the historical aspects of the Sahara issue which "knows significant development through the solution of autonomy , shaped by and for the benefit of real Saharans " to overcome the current impasse.
Mr. Moussaoui Khaddad described these meetings as "fruitful" because they enabled the Moroccan delegation once again to raise the attention of European deputies and officials on the maneuvers and conspiracies orchestrated by opponents of our territorial integrity, hostile to the new momentum created by the Moroccan proposal to grant sweeping autonomy in the southern provinces of the Kingdom in the framework of national sovereignty.
Mr. Moussaoui noted that and European deputies and officials praised the "spirit of dialogue and good appreciation of things" by Morocco, shown in dealing with this issue, expressing their readiness to contribute to the efforts undertaken at various levels for the final settlement of this issue.
The delegation of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, who arrived in Brussels early this week, had discussions with Mr. Janis Oniskukus Vice-Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, Raemon Obiols Igerma Chairman of the Committee in charge of relations with the countries of Central America, and Alexander Stetzman Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the European Parliament.
The Moroccan delegation met with Mr. Stenberg Stephen Director of humanitarian operations, and raised the attention of European officials to the diversion of humanitarian assistance by Polisario and the humanitarian situation of Moroccans deprived from returning to their homeland in the Algerian Tindouf against their will.
