Foreign Activities

The Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (Corcas) is taking part, as part of the official delegation of the Kingdom of Morocco, in the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), which is being held from February 24 to April 4 in Geneva.

At this session, CORCAS is represented by Moulay Ahmed Mghizlate and Saadani Maoulainine, CORCAS members.

During this session, the Moroccan delegation led by the Minister of Justice will organize a series of bilateral meetings with its counterparts, particularly from brotherly Arab and African countries, as well as with senior officials of the United Nations and international organizations.

The Moroccan delegation also organized, on February 25, in partnership with Paraguay and Portugal, a high-level parallel meeting entitled "The international network of national reporting and monitoring mechanisms: Strengthening cooperation, encouraging membership and presenting the Marrakesh framework for action".

Among other activities, Morocco will participate in many meetings, including the parallel meeting scheduled for February 27 on the theme "tolerance and inclusion in sport: a catalytic factor for the promotion of human rights".

In addition to the usual organizational issues and the annual reports of the Secretary-General and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the 58th session of the CDH will be marked by the presentation of numerous situation reports on the various themes that concern human rights.

This is particularly the case for the death penalty, which will be the subject of a discussion meeting that will focus on the contribution of the judiciary to the promotion of human rights and the issue of the death penalty.

The Council will also hear the address of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, and the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, in particular on the harmful effects of terrorism on the enjoyment of rights.
