Mr. Lewis Kwermo Makebo, Director-General for relations with Africa in the Canary Islands declared after a meeting with a delegation of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs he hopes to achieve a final peace and stability in the Sahara, as well as his desire to contribute to the development of the area.



Lewis Kwermo Makebo  said: "We want to participate in the development of the region, as well as the achievement of final stability and peace, we would like to contribute to improving  the standard of living of the population there."

He added: "In recent years we have worked hard to develop our cooperation with Morocco and we will continue to do so. I hope to continue in this path to find a final solution to the problem of the Sahara. We are pleased that the Royal Council is working in this direction."

Corcas delegation made on Thursday political talks with officials from the Canary Islands, where it had meetings described  as "very important", with the Regional Vice-Chairman of Parliament Mr. Alfredo Quintana, the representative of the Canary Islands Government, Mr. Jose Segura, secretary general of the General Federation of workers Alicia Rodriguez Betancourt close to the Socialists and members of the local government, as part of a three-day tour to the islands by Corcas to explain the Moroccan initiative to resolve the Sahara conflict.
