President of the Chamber of Commerce, Jesus Gil Soares, said that the real future of Canary Islands will be self-governing in the south of Morocco.


The head of the chamber said after a meeting with  CORCAS delegation, which is visiting the Canary Islands on Saturday: "We are satisfied after the talks we had with the President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, and are convinced that the real future of the Government of the Canary is linked to the autonomy of the south of Morocco."

Chamber officials expressed their satisfaction about the progress made expressing their hope that autonomy project will succeed, and which will bring about further understanding and communication between the brothers in the two banks.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce, Jesus Gil Soares, welcomed, at the beginning of the meeting on his behalf and on behalf of the Chamber CORCAS delegation, led by Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, addressing him as President and friend. He raised in his speech the importance of the Canary Islands as geo-strategic setting it in the heart of globalization , being a trading hub of three continents: Southern Europe, a link between the African continent and America, and has a trading port that plays a pivotal role between these continents and the Asian continent.

He then paid tribute to the Moroccan monarch, who attached particular importance to the enhancement of understanding with the international environment, especially Spain and enhancement of relations between the south of Morocco and the Canary Islands. The Chamber President greeted the will of Morocco to make the southern regions autonomous, as well as the depth of the ties that bind the Sahara regions and the Canary Islands, which saw increased number of Sahara residents in its medical institutions.

He also considered the application of self-rule in the southern provinces will further strengthen these links in terms of trade and culture.

According to Mr. Khalihenna, the visit to the islands came with the permission of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, after the visit by CORCAS in early May to the Spanish capital Madrid where he met with political actors, parliamentarians and trade union bodies and institutions. He said: "It is normal for us that the Government of the Canary Islands receives first visit by the local government, because they are next door to the south of Morocco and because we share historical, family and business relations. Support we received is no surprise but is the embodiment of what is common between us".

He then talked about the functionality the application of autonomy in the southern provinces. On the one hand, it is a definitive solution to the conflict that has lasted for long, and on the other hand, provides great opportunities for trade, tourism and shipping. It opens up broad prospects for the future. He added that the Canary is the main partner and can play a key role in creating channels for dialogue. It is the first beneficiary of the achievement of these prospects, including what guarantees as stability in the region and positive effects of development.

Mr. President said that the visit reflects the will of His Majesty the King and Saharans to enhance relations between Morocco and Spain that concern the economic, strategic and security dimensions as Morocco is a major to Spain. Relations will increase between Sahrawis and Canary Islands. Autonomy gives Sahrawis the opportunity to achieve their dreams and turn them into reality through the completion of projects that respond to their moral and material needs. Autonomy will allow achieve reconciliation including our brothers in Algeria, Polisario and even the United Nations. He emphasized that the solution guarantees dignity, honor and victory for all.

The Sahara, according to Mr. President, is full of resources to be exploited and will be a catalyst for the Canary Islands economy and a tourist area that will increase the activation of the vital role of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean.
