Council Chairman calls upon Polisario to be politically realistic

Dutch speaking paper "De Standaard" said that the King entrusted the Royal advisory Council for Sahara Affairs with the mission to pave the way for autonomy.



In an interview with the chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, after a visit to Brussels at the head of an important delegation, the paper said that autonomy of has become possible thanks to the pro-reform will of His Majesty King Mohammed VI."

It highlighted, quoting Mr. Ould Errachid, that autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty is the "only realistic and final solution," which responds to the demands of Sahrawis and guarantees interests of all parties to the dispute.

"Mr. Ould Errachid added that this solution is also useful for the emergence of" a stable Maghreb, "and looking towards the future.

Mr. Ould Errachid, who headed a delegation from the Council, held during his visit to Brussels talks with several Belgian and European officials about the initiative of His Majesty and the task entrusted to the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs in this regard.

During the press meeting, Mr. Ould Errachid, chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs raised the following issues:
- The Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs was established by His Majesty the King
- The Council works under direct supervision by His Majesty the King
- The Council's objective to find a final solution to the Sahara problem
- Appointed not elected Council and includes 141 members representing the Saharan community
- Autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty,
- Saharans are distributed as follows:
- 25% in camps
-% 3 in Mauritania
- The rest in the Moroccan territory
- 3% of the population of the camps live refugees abroad and refuse to return to the camps
- Polisario leaders are Moroccan
- The war is over at the end of the Cold War
- Referendum is not possible
- Algeria brotherly country and says it is not a party in this dispute.
- Algeria protects Polisario
- Algeria is asked to do what it says and help us to achieve reconciliation

- Polisario’s reaction negative until now

- This shows why Algeria refused that an international party carries out census of the camps population
- Lhmada population lives in inhuman conditions
- Recent events in Tindouf ended by siege of Abdel Aziz headquarters against abuses and arrests against the protesters from the camp population who wish to return and not stay there
- Polisario’s position in case of acceptance of autonomy guaranteed, and reflects the desire for reconciliation and the final settlement of the issue
