The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), met on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, with the Speaker of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN), Carlos René Hernández, who is currently visiting Morocco at the head of a large delegation.

During this meeting, which was attended by CORCAS Secretary General, Dr. Maouelainin Ben Khallihenna Maouelainin, and Moulay Ahmed Mghizlat, CORCAS member, CORCAS chief discussed the latest developments in the Moroccan Sahara issue with his hosts. After presenting the history of the conflict in the context of the Cold War, he highlighted the relevance of the Moroccan solution to the resolution of this conflict, granting autonomy to the Moroccan Sahara region. The text of this proposal was formulated by Sahrawis, represented by the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, and subsequently presented by the Kingdom to the United Nations in 2007. It was considered a courageous and just initiative that would break the stagnation of the situation.

This initiative currently enjoys almost unanimous support from the international community, with a veritable tidal wave of favorable positions from UN member states in recent years.

It therefore represents the only basis for a solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.

The delegation of the Central American Parliament will visit the southern provinces. The Moroccan Parliament joined the Central American Parliament as an observer member in June 2015. This regional institution brings together six countries: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.
