During this meeting in which Moulay Ahmed Mghizlat, CORCAS member, took part, President Khalihenna Ould Errachid discussed with his host and the delegation accompanying him the latest developments in the Sahara issue.
CORCAS head highlighted the relevance of the Moroccan solution for the settlement of this conflict, in this case the autonomy plan for the Moroccan Sahara, the text of which was drawn up by the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs and then presented by the Kingdom to the United Nations in 2007. This Moroccan plan has made it possible to break the immobility that the Sahara issue had been experiencing since the ceasefire in 1991.
This initiative is currently the subject of almost unanimous support from the international community.
In recent months, it has witnessed a veritable tidal wave of favorable positions from member countries of the United Nations, including in particular the French position, expressed by the message addressed by President Emmanuel Macron to His Majesty the King on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day last July and reiterated by President Macron, with solemnity during a joint session of the two Chambers of the Moroccan Parliament in October.
It is therefore within the framework of this new momentum of Franco-Moroccan relations that the working visit of the speaker of the French Senate and the delegation of senators accompanying him is taking place.
