The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, Mr Khalihenna Ould Errachid, held talks Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Council headquarters with Andrés Ordóñez, Mexican Ambassador to the Kingdom.


At the meeting, attended by Dr. Maouelainin Ben Khallihenna Maouelainin, CORCAS Secretary General and Mr. Ahmed Mghizlat, Corcas member, the two sides discussed the exceptional historical relations binding the two countries and prospects of their development, especially at the economic level, the Sahara region being a unique platform to the African continent characterized by stability, security and openness.


The meeting also tackled political aspect of the Sahara issue and recent developments marked by frozen negotiations, because of the intransigent position of Algeria and Polisario. It should be noted in this regard, the Mexican position which supports the process of political settlement within the UN framework.


On the other hand, the Corcas chairman briefed on key aspects of the political, economic and social momentum in the Sahara region, through the implementation of extended regionalization which is practical way to situation that freezes the settlement process and the free engagement of the United Nations in favor of the choice of autonomy as a final, serious and credible solution, as mentioned by all resolutions of the security Council since 2007, date of the presentation by Morocco of its initiative.
