Domestic Activities

Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, met on Monday at the Council a Socialist International delegation headed by Juan Antonio Yanez, former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Spain and member the Spanish Socialist Workers Party.


At the meeting, which was attended by Dr. Maouelainin Ben Khallihenna Maouelainin, CORCAS Secretary General, Mr. Khaddad El Moussaoui, Vice Chairman and Mr. Ahmed Mghizlat Council member, Mr Khalihenna discussed the latest developments about the Sahara issue especially the political negotiation process under United Nations auspices, revived by the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco since 2007.

This initiative stressed again by the Security Council in its resolution 2218, in "welcoming serious and credible efforts made by Morocco to move forward towards resolution" is considered practical, just and lasting.

Mr. Khalihenna also drew the attention of his interlocutors on the latest developments of the Sahara issue nationally, namely "critical" projects for the future of Morocco and Southern Provinces that His Majesty the King Mohammed VI announced in recent speeches.

The delegation of the Socialist International consists of Mr Yanez, Mustapha Ben Jaafar, Honorary President of the SI and Secretary General of the Tunisian Ettakatol, Adelia de Carvalho Member of the Central Committee of MPLA, Angola, MP and University professor and Claudio Herrera, Professor and member of the SI Secretariat.
