Khalihenna Ould Errachid, chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, met Thursday morning at the Council’s headquarters with journalists from UK information website specializing in issues of the Middle East and North Africa, " Middle East Eye ".


This meeting was held as part of an investigative mission to Morocco by journalists "Dania Akkad" and "Jonathan Steele" to shed light on the development sites and the ongoing reforms in the Kingdom of Morocco and in the Sahara region in particular.



Khalihenna answered questions of journalists covering the conflict in the Sahara region since its inception four decades ago, and the support to the Polisario Front by Algeria in the context of international polarity of the two East/West camps during the Cold War.

Khalihenna Ould Errachid also explained the reasons for the failure of the various attempts of the United Nations for the settlement of this conflict. He also highlighted the momentum created by the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco in 2007 with the resumption of negotiations.




Corcas head also focused on economic and democratic development occurred in the Sahara region and especially since the enthronement of HM King Mohammed VI. These projects comprise human rights, socio-economic and cultural aspects.

This meeting was attended by Dr Maouelainin Ben Khalihenna Maouelainin, CORCAS Secretary General.
