The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, Khalihenna Ould Errachid, met on Monday in Rabat with a senior delegation of the Italian Parliament composed of members of the House of Representatives and Senate and a number of Italian NGO leaders and journalists.




Khalihenna discussed with the Italian delegation the history and the latest developments in the Sahara and the efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco to reach a solution to this artificial conflict , through a courageous proposal which was appreciated by the international community, including the Security Council, as stipulated in the preceding resolutions, from April 2007 until the final resolution ( 2152 ) last April , stressing the seriousness and credibility of the Moroccan proposal granting autonomy to the Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty.




The Chairman also discussed with the Italian delegation efforts made by Morocco to develop the Sahara region since its return to the motherland, in parallel with the introduction of the culture of human rights in the region through the establishment of regional committees of the national Council for human Rights in Laayoune and Dakhla , indicating at the same time the violation of human rights by the Polisario Front and Algeria refusal to organize a census of the Sahrawi living in the Tindouf camps in Algeria.




The Italian delegation is composed of members of parliament from the majority party, and member of the Democratic Party and the Forza Italia party and representatives of the NCD party. The mayor of Silea ( North East Italy) also accompanied the delegation . Journalists from RAI and ANSA news agency also participated.

Secretary General of the Council , Dr. Ben Khalihenna Maouelainin Maoulainin and Moulay Ahmed Maghizlat Corcas member took part in this meeting.
