In a joint statement issued after the official visit of King Mohammed VI to Rwanda (October 18-23), Rwanda’s Head of State reiterated his country’s “support for this decision (the return of Morocco to the AU) and his firm commitment to work for its success, thanks to a speedy and unconditional admission of the Kingdom of Morocco to its pan-African institutional family, as of the next AU Summit.”

 

In this perspective, the statement added, “the two countries decided to strengthen, as of now, their consultations and coordination at all levels and on various regional, continental and multilateral issues.”

The same source said that the two leaders share “the same ambitious vision for an African continent master of its destiny, which takes control of its own development, irreversibly commits itself on the path of stability and makes its voice heard around the world “.

HM the King and Rwanda’s President “are convinced that the development of Africa is, first of all, the responsibility of African countries, individually and collectively, and join their voices to urge the exchange and sharing of successful experiences in various fields,” especially those focused on human development, new information technologies, environment and renewable energy.

The two Heads of State stressed, in this regard, the need to strengthen South-South and triangular cooperation, promote a continuous and sustainable development, based on the development of local resources and African expertise, the statement said.

The same source noted that the talks between HM the King and President Kagame also focused on regional, African, international and multilateral issues of common interest.

The two leaders also lauded the success of this official visit. They welcomed its concrete outcomes and praised the spirit of respect, brotherhood and mutual understanding that has marked the consultations.
