The Central African Foreign Minister, Toussaint Kongo, reiterated Friday in New York, support of his country to the Moroccan Sahara, saying the Central African Republic has always taken a "very clear" position on this issue.

"We support the Moroccan Sahara and our position at this level is very clear," said Mr. Kongo to the press after a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, on the sidelines of Salaheddine Mezouar at the UN 69th General Assembly.

"It has always been continuity in our diplomacy to support the point of view of Morocco, which is a righteous view, in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council," said Mr. Kongo, insisting "it's a non-negotiable issue."

“The accuracy of the point of view of Morocco must be sustained and supported,” he said.

He also highlighted Morocco's support for reconciliation efforts in Central Africa, stressing in this respect thanks to His Majesty King Mohammed VI "for having sent units of the Royal Armed Forces to accompany us."

The Minister also took the opportunity to acknowledge the support of the kingdom to the Central African Republic during hard times. Throughout the crisis we experienced, Morocco has never closed its embassy. Rather, the Kingdom has increased its presence, and "I want to thank His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan government for this," said the minister.

On the cooperation between Morocco and Central African Republic, Mr. Kongo expressed the wish that this cooperation will further strengthen especially economically, taking advantage of the opportunities. Mezouar reminded, in this context, the efforts made by Morocco to contribute to the success of national reconciliation in the country, and enable them to "enter into the institutional and constitutional normality."

Efforts are also being made by the Kingdom to accompany and support the transition in the Central African Republic, said the minister. This interview took place in the presence of the Central African Ministers of Economy, Florence Limbio and Health, Marguerite Samba-Maliavo, and Morocco's ambassador to the UN, Omar Hilale.
