A delegation of Mauritanian lawyers visited the International Research Center on the Prevention of Child Recruitment in Dakhla Thursday.


This visit enabled the Mauritanian delegation, which is on a tour to the Kingdom during the period from 19 to 27 May, to see the center, which is an important scientific and academic platform in terms of providing accurate, qualitative and quantitative data in the field of preventing the phenomenon of child recruitment around the world.
On this occasion, the delegation of 31 Mauritanian lawyers toured the center’s facilities, during which they got acquainted with the various tasks and services provided by this institution. Organizing research and consultations on prevention and exploitation of children in conflict areas.

The center, which was recently inaugurated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, in the presence of officials, elected officials and diplomats from African countries in Dakhla, aims to raise awareness of the fate of child soldiers in conflict areas around the world, their recruitment processes, as well as the reasons behind the continuation of these activities.

Through academic research, partnerships and various aspects of cooperation, the center will work on developing and launching effective strategies to confront all forms of child recruitment. It will also start evaluating and counting unregistered child soldiers, while providing innovative solutions to combat their exploitation in armed conflicts.

The delegation of Mauritanian lawyers, who benefited from a training course on “Urgent Judiciary before the Administrative, Commercial and Civil Judiciary”, made a similar field visit, during which they inspected the various facilities of the new headquarters of the Court of First Instance in Wadi Eddahab.
