A large-scale implementation of the health protocol in schools for the 2020-2021 school year took place, said the director of the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) of Dakhla-Oued. Eddahab, Ejjida Ellabig.

The implementation of this health protocol reflects the mobilization of the teaching staff, insofar as this protocol must be supplemented by an effective commitment from territorial authorities, associations of parents and guardians of pupils and representatives of civil society, in order to create conditions necessary for the success of this school year at all levels, Ms. Ellabig said in an interview with MAP.
In this context, she noted that the Academy has initiated a vast operation of disinfection and sterilization of schools and its outbuildings, in coordination with the commune of Dakhla, informing that these establishments have proceeded to the acquisition of teaching materials sterilization to actively engage in efforts to stem the spread of this pandemic.

In addition, AREF has carried out in partnership with the regional health directorate screening tests for Covid-19 for the benefit of educational and administrative executives, all cycles combined, she continued, adding that the two parties have held meetings, in order to develop a communication plan aimed at strengthening the precautionary measures to support the 2020-2021 school year.
AREF of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab has taken a panoply of provisions and measures adapted to the current context, which is in line with the implementation of the guidelines of the supervisory department, she explained.

This involves, among other things, mobilizing all financial resources of school support associations to ensure the application of the health protocol, in this case the disinfection of all classes, regular hand washing, use of hydroalcoholic gels, wearing of a mask and passage through a sterilizing mat, she continued.

In the same vein, Ms. Ellabig underlined that AREF distributed posters and brochures to highlight the preventive measures and hygiene rules to be adopted to effectively fight against the spread of this virus.
For the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, and taking into account the data relating to the pandemic and the choice made by more than 80% of parents and guardians of students for face-to-face education, AREF has taken important measures to bring together the favorable conditions guaranteeing the right to schooling, while ensuring optimal protection and health security for learners, educational and administrative frameworks against the risk of the spread of the new coronavirus, she added.
Given that the situation linked to Covid-19 and the accompanying preventive measures do not allow schools to accommodate all of their students at the same time, the formula of face-to-face teaching in alternation and the system of group teaching have been adopted, she said.
Likewise, the AREF director noted that the meeting of regional coordinators of the educational inspectorate debated the new distribution of school time, all cycles combined, provided that each school chooses its own learning mode and sends it to the Provincial Command and the Regional Academy for appropriate decision making.

Regarding awareness of the seriousness of the virus, Ms. Ellabig indicated that the supervisory ministry has made enormous efforts such as broadcasting courses via dedicated television channels, in addition to the efforts made by the relevant departments of the Academy at regional and provincial levels.

In this wake, field visits and awareness campaigns in schools were carried out, in coordination with educational executives, allowing students to directly follow advice to limit the spread of the pandemic, as well as the organization of seminars remotely involving all stakeholders, she argued.
The health clubs within each school have set up regular and continuous communication programs with the students and their tutors, with a view to encouraging them to respect the provisions of the health protocol and assume their responsibilities within this framework, she noted.
