Morocco failed on Saturday in Dakar involvement by a representative of Polisario separatists in the works of a meeting of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) which was postponed sine Die.


The meeting, which is part of the 10th Joint Annual Meeting of the ECA and the African Union Commission (AUC), was postponed after two days of blockage caused by the presence in the room of a representative from the so-called "rasd". Despite the attempts and maneuvers by Algeria, the meeting finally could not be held due to non respect of international legality.


During the consultations, ECA was called upon to avoid any slippage or deviation from international legality and rules governing meetings of the UN and its various organs and bodies which are not open to non-members of the United Nations.


Mr. Abdellah Ben Mellouk, Head of Division in the Multilateral Cooperation Directorate, on behalf of the Kingdom of Morocco, presented the legal arguments for preserving the UN format of the meeting in accordance with the rules of procedures and practices of the United Nations system.


Representatives of the southern provinces of the Kingdom were present in the room, as legitimate representatives of the Moroccan Sahara.


The participation of Mhamed Abba Vice-President of Laâyoune-Sakia El-Hamra region and Bouttal Lambarki Dakhla Oued Eddahab region, who were able to intervene in the debates, made it possible to highlight their legitimacy and the weakness of representativeness of Polisario.


The Moroccan delegation, led by Moroccan ambassador to Dakar, Taleb Barrada, was composed of the Director of African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC), Mohamed Sbihi, head of the Economic and Financial Affairs Division And financial, Abdellah Ben Mellouk, besides representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, High Commission for Planning, Moroccan Embassy in Addis Ababa.
