Tanzania "supports" Morocco's return to the African Union (AU), said Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Augustine Mahiga, who said that his country and  Africa will benefit from the return of the Kingdom in view the experience and expertise it has accumulated in several key areas.


"As member of the African Union, we welcome the return of Morocco to the AU, and Tanzania will certainly support this return," said Mr. Mahiga in a press statement on the occasion of the visit bybHM King Mohammed VI in Tanzania.


He noted that Tanzania, as well as several African countries already is cooperating jointly with Morocco in many international forums, United Nations and within the framework of G77.


Morocco's return to AU will not only be significant in political terms but also will further strengthen existing partnerships within the various international bodies such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other similar institutions, has said.


The Tanzanian foreign minister expressed the desire of his country to benefit from Morocco's expertise in the field of international finance, trade and investment, noting that these are important issues not only for Tanzania but for the whole of Africa in the context including the Millennium development goals and Africa 2063 Agenda where the contribution and experience of Morocco will be vital.
