The Spanish news agency Europa Press published a story last Sunday denouncing the "drama" of hundreds of young Sahrawi women who were adopted by families in Spain then kidnapped and held against their will in Tindouf camps.

Europa Press collected the testimony of one of the girls called Zahra who lived with his adoptive family near Huelva (south of Spain), before being kidnapped by her biological family in Tindouf camps who managed to escape and return again to Spain.

Like Zahra, other young Saharawis, some with Spanish nationality as Mahjouba and Maloma Morales, have been victims of kidnappings in Polisario camps and cannot lead a normal life as they did before in Spain, "says the Spanish press agency.

Adopted at the age of six, young Zahra says she did not initially separated from family in Tindouf.

"I did not want to leave my family and I was forced to do so. You have to change your life and then you want to change everything again. It is a hard experience, "said Zahara who told the Spanish news agency the ordeal endured in the camps by Polisario and difficulties experienced before returning to Spain to regain normal life.

Zahra told other similar cases of Sahrawi girls kidnapped and held against their will in Tindouf camps.

The Spanish newspaper El Mundo published an article in January where it stressed that over 150 Saharawi girls, some with Spanish nationality, are held against their will in the Tindouf camps in south-western Algeria.

"These girls had left the Tindouf camps in order to study, prepare their future and be free (...) Some have Spanish nationality and have spent more than half their life in Spain. One day, they decided to visit their biological families, but never returned to Spain. "
