The Moroccan people celebrated Sunday the 34nd anniversary of the recovery of the province of Oued Eddahab, a historic event that reflects the struggle waged jointly by the throne and the people for the completion of the territorial unity of Morocco and the sovereignty of the Kingdom.

Elite leaders, Ulema and representatives of different tribes, went, Monday, August 14, 1979, in Rabat to present the late King Hassan II  oath of allegiance and reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the bonds of Alawite Throne. By so doing, the residents of Wadi Eddahad confirm that they will never give up their Moroccan identity.

This highly patriotic move by people of the province came to show to the world that the Moroccan Sahara has always been and will remain Moroccan, despite the maneuvers of opponents.

It was a historic moment when the designer of the glorious green march late King Hassan II addressed the sons of this region of the Kingdom during the ceremony of allegiance. "We are committed to ensuring your safety and your defense and to work hard for your welfare," said the late King Hassan II. Late King Hassan II distributed weapons to representatives of the Sahrawi tribes who came to renew the Beia to the throne.

The fight led by Morocco to defend its integrity drew its strength from ancient symbiosis that binds the people and the throne, by the ties of Beia that involves commitment to defend the best interests of the country's sovereignty and dignity.

This symbiosis was strengthened again on the occasion of the historic visit March 4, 1980 by late King Hassan II to Dakhla, which gave new impetus to the progress of national unity, marking a reunion between the grand unification of the homeland unifier and his faithful subjects who have suffered during several years of colonial policy to break the bonds that united them to the motherland.

Since then, Morocco has never ceased sustained efforts for the integration of the southern provinces in the national process of comprehensive and sustainable development, along with its fight to bolster the legitimacy of its rights and consolidate the consensus and commitment of the Moroccan people to defend their gains.

Following the path of his revered father, King Mohammed VI took over the defense of territorial integrity.

"I firmly believe this major institutional, development-oriented stride, which sets the stage for extensive regionalization and expanded territorial governance in all of the Kingdom’s regions, including our southern provinces, will shore up the Autonomy Initiative as a final, political solution to the artificial dispute over our Sahara; a solution which should be based on serious negotiations and on a spirit of consensus and realism, within the framework of the United Nations Organization, and in cooperation with the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy.

The question of our territorial integrity will remain the foremost priority in our foreign and domestic policy, and we will continue to defend our country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, which are not negotiable," said the Sovereign.
