 The embassy of Panama in Morocco has been inaugurated in Rabat, with the presence of Panamanian vice minister of foreign affairs, Mayra Arosemena and a number of Moroccan officials.

 This inauguration came as a result of the Panamanian decision to withdraw its recognition of the Polisario front and it readiness to support the UN efforts, to reach a solution to the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.

 The inauguration and the diplomatic representation of Panama in Rabat, took place with the presence of the minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Salahddine Mezouar  , deputy foreign minister Mrs Mbarka Bouaida, the ambassador of Panama in Morocco , the Latino /American diplomatic corps accredited in Morocco and the US ambassador.

 In her statement to the press, the deputy minister of foreign affairs welcomed the opening of the embassy of her country in Morocco, underlining the commitment of Panama to promote the bilateral cooperation with Morocco.

 She expressed her optimism as to the strengthening of economic and trade bilateral relations with Morocco, adding that that Morocco is the doorway of Africa and Panama is the transit country towards south  and central America.

 After focusing on the interest of the signature of a memorandum of agreement on political consultation and framework agreement of cooperation between the two countries, the Panamanian official has indicated that four other projects of bilateral agreements are still under way.

 As to Mrs Bouaida , she  has asserted that the inauguration of the  embassy of Panama in Rabat represents a significant step in the Moroccan – Panamanian relations and the future holds promise in terms of economic and political exchanges.

 She added that the withdrawal of Panama‘s recognition of the pseudo- RASD is part of   the strengthening of Panama‘s relations  with all partners in Africa including Morocco.
