 Trump's historic recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara "will remain etched in the memory of Moroccans from generation to generation"
His Majesty King Mohammed VI sent a congratulatory message to His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, on the occasion of his country’s independence day.
In this message, His Majesty the King states that "as the United States of America celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence on July 4, it gives Me great pleasure to extend to you, on My own behalf and on behalf of the Moroccan people, My sincere best wishes and congratulations."
The Sovereign adds that "this anniversary also commemorates 250 years of strong and stable relations between our two nations. Morocco, the first State to recognize the independence of the United States of America, holds this distinguished and unique relationship in high esteem."
His Majesty the King affirms in His message that these deeply rooted ties, based on values of deep friendship and loyalty, "have never been as rich and fruitful" as during the two terms of His Excellency President Donald Trump, recalling that His Excellency’s historic recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara "will remain etched in the memory of Moroccans from generation to generation...".
The Sovereign praises the level of trade and economic relations, which "have never been so strong," and shares His conviction that relations between the two countries are moving toward their "best phase."
The Sovereign also welcomes the security and military cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the USA as a "model of excellence " and "a major pillar" for protecting both countries’ citizens, defending their shared values, and safeguarding their interests (...), citing the African Lion exercise, hosted by Morocco.
His Majesty the King concludes His message to His Excellency the U.S. President by reiterating the unwavering commitment to move forward in bolstering and deepening the ties between the Moroccan and American nations.
