International experts from various backgrounds praised the relevance of the Moroccan autonomy plan on Wednesday in Dakhla, calling it the only credible and realistic solution to end the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
Speaking at the third edition of the Policy Conference of the Coalition for Autonomy in the Sahara (AUSACO), held on April 29 and 30 in Dakhla, they emphasized that this initiative constitutes the reference framework for reaching a definitive solution to this conflict, while respecting the Kingdom's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Deputy Director of the African Center for Research on Peace and Sustainable Development, Alphonse Ousime Moktamé Kintas, told the press that this plan constitutes "the only credible basis" to achieve a lasting solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue.
He indicated, in this regard, that the Moroccan autonomy plan represents "the saving path" and the only basis for putting an end to this regional dispute that has lasted too long.
The expert also highlighted Dakhla's strategic role as an emerging economic hub that offers immense opportunities to promote regional development and contribute to African integration.
For his part, Hubert Seillan, a lawyer at the Paris Bar and President of the France-Morocco Foundation for Peace and Sustainable Development, emphasized that the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty heralds a "bright future" for the Moroccan Sahara.
The city of Dakhla, due to its strategic geographical position and undeniable assets, stands out as a crossroads for the entire region, he said.
Meanwhile, the Vice-President of the special delegation of Commune II of the Bamako District and President of TIRAC-SAHEL, Souleymane Satigui Sidibé, described Mali's withdrawal of its recognition of the pseudo "sadr" as a "major turning point."
"We rejoice today at Mali's decision to withdraw its recognition of this fictitious entity," he welcomed, praising his country's support for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco as the only serious and credible basis for resolving this dispute.
The third edition of the AUSACO Policy Conference will feature panel discussions aimed at reflecting on future perspectives related to the definitive settlement of the Moroccan Sahara issue, in light of the historic adoption of Resolution 2797. This aligns with an international dynamic marked by growing support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara and the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty as the sole political solution to this regional dispute.
This conference will conclude with a political declaration by AUSACO members, reaffirming their support for Morocco's territorial integrity, as well as an action plan to support the dynamic of growing backing for the Moroccanness of the Sahara.
