Brazil supports Morocco's efforts to reach a “realistic” solution to the Sahara issue, which has lasted for too long, said Thursday Brazilian Foreign Minister, Ernesto Araujo, adding that his country is willing to contribute to efforts aimed at reaching solutions that go "beyond rhetoric".

"On the issue of the Sahara, a vital issue for Morocco, Brazil supports Morocco's efforts to reach a realistic solution to this issue, which has lasted for decades," Araujo pointed out in Brasilia at a joint press conference with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Affairs, Nasser Bourita.

Brazil is willing to contribute into the various efforts aimed at finding solutions that go beyond mere rhetoric and provide a new basis for cooperation, the Brazilian top-diplomat added.

The exchange of views on thorny issues was absolutely fundamental, he said, highlighting the relations of friendship and trust that bind the two countries.

Bourita started on Thursday a visit to Brazil, where he held talks with several Brazilian senior officials.
