Barbados supports Morocco's autonomy initiative and its territorial integrity, Barbados' Foreign Minister Jerome Walcott said on Friday in Rabat.

Barbados supports the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco as a "serious", "credible" and "realistic" solution to the artificial conflict over the Sahara, under the Moroccan sovereignty, Walcott told the press after his talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita.

Barbados no longer recognizes the phoney "SADR" since 2013, the Barbadian official said. This Caribbean country had recognized the fake entity in 1988.

This visit confirms the solid relation between the two countries and paves the way for a promising cooperation, he said, noting that Barbados sees Morocco as a strong and strategic ally.

He also lauded the important role of HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, in promoting interfaith dialogue and the values of peace, tolerance and coexistence between Muslims, Christians and Jews, stressing that the recent visit by His Holiness Pope Francis to Morocco is the best example of this.
