The Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, met Tuesday 05 February 2019, with a group of Finnish journalists on a working visit in the Kingdom.


During these meetings, attended by Dr. Maouelainin Ben Khallihenna Maouelainin, Secretary General and Mr. Ahmed Mghizlat, member, Khalihenna Ould Errachid discussed with his hosts the latest developments in the Sahara issue.




In particular, he explained, the proponents of the current UN attempt to revive the political negotiation process between the parties by the round table held in Geneva in December 2018, under the leadership of Personal Envoy Horst Köhler who invited the parties to an informal meeting to this effect.


 Corcas chief highlighted the relevance of the Moroccan solution for the settlement of this conflict, granting autonomy to the Sahara region, by Saharawis, represented by the Royal Advisory Council on Saharan Affairs, presented by the Kingdom to the United Nations in 2007, as a courageous and just initiative to break the stillness of the situation since the cease-fire in 1991
