In a statement issued in Sofia, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs underlines that Bulgaria "supports a lasting and fair solution" to this regional conflict through negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations and in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council.

"We encourage the parties to the conflict to cooperate more" to make progress in the political process, the ministry pointed out, welcoming the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy, Horst Kohler.

The statement was issued following talks held by Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for Justice Reform and Foreign Minister, Ekaterina Zaharieva, with Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, who is on official visit to Bulgaria.

Bourita's visit to Sofia is the last leg of a tour that begun on Tuesday in the Balkan region with the aim of diversifying the Kingdom's partners within the European continent.

As part of this three-day tour, Bourita visited Belgrade (Serbia), Bucharest (Romania) and Sofia (Bulgaria).
