Speakers at this conference, which gathered Monday about twenty international experts, stressed that in favor of a model of socio-economic development "integrated and sustainable" for the Sahara, Morocco has undertaken huge efforts for the promotion of its Southern Provinces, commending the pre-eminence of the Moroccan autonomy plan largely supported by the international community.

"Morocco has put in place a comprehensive approach to resolve the artificial conflict around the Sahara through the adoption of an approach based in particular on the economic development of the region", said Mexican expert Antonio Yelpi, noting that this "renovated governance" is "surely an important step towards consolidating the process of regionalization".

The President of the Global Africa Latina Foundation, gathering cultural and academic actors from several Latin American countries, added, in this context, the Royal speech on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the Green March, in which His Majesty King Mohammed VI stressed: "We do not intend to mortgage the future of our Southern Provinces, and subordinate it to developments of the Sahara issue at the UN . On the contrary, we will pursue our all-out integrated development action. "

Deploring the deterioration of the human rights situation in Tindouf camps and difficult conditions of thousands of women and children kidnapped by Polisario "far from any control of the international community", the Mexican expert denounced the misuse by Polisario leaders of the humanitarian aid destined to the populations sequestrated in Tindouf camps.

The Equatorial Guinean Deputy Prime Minister for Human Rights, Alfonso Nsue Mokuy, who participated in this international conference during his visit to Mexico, highlighted the "serious and realistic" character of the Moroccan plan of autonomy, emphasizing that the integrated project of sustainable development adopted by Morocco constitutes a model for other countries in Africa.

Mexican human rights activist Anais Urban gave striking testimony to the atrocity of the repressive acts committed by Polisario militia against Sahrawis in Tindouf and tragic and inhuman situation that prevails in Polisario camps and jails.

Participants also noted that Morocco has embarked on an all-out development policy in its Southern Provinces through the implementation of several sustainable development projects in the region.
