The "Africa Eco Race" started on Sunday December 31, 2017 from Monaco with 179 competitors and 91 vehicles in the race. The raid rallies Monaco and Dakar crossing Morocco from Tangier to Lagouira, passing through Mauritania to reach the Senegalese capital after 2 weeks of race.
35 drivers in motorcycles, 110 in cars and 34 in trucks, currently Morocco after a boat crossing which allowed them to join Nador from Sète in France.
The competitors then crossed the Atlas Mountains and reached Agadir then Dakhla in southern Morocco before moving to Mauritania before joining the finish line on the shores of Lake Rose in Senegal on Sunday, January 14th.
The participants represent 27 different nationalities.
