Kuwait reaffirmed on Monday before the 4th Committee of the UN General Assembly its support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative, stressing that it is a "constructive alternative" to achieve a solution mutually acceptable to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
"We also welcome the efforts of Morocco, described as serious and credible by the Security Council in its Resolution 2351, as well as the measures undertaken by the Kingdom in respect of human rights", said during the debate of the Committtee, Jarah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, representative of Kuwait to this body, who insisted on the "need for respect for the unity and sovereignty of Morocco" in this regard.
"We note that the Security Council recognized that a political solution to this dispute and strengthening of cooperation between member countries of the Arab Maghreb Union are capable of contributing to peace and stability in the Sahel region, "said representative of Kuwait.
