The European Union on Tuesday said that its position on the Moroccan Sahara has not changed.
"Our position on the Sahara has not changed", Spokesperson of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Nabila Massrali, said in a reply to a MAP question on the recent statement by European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete on a renewable electricity exchange agreement signed on November 17, 2016 in Marrakech between Morocco, Germany, France, Spain and Portugal on the sidelines of COP22.
"The European Union will support the efforts of the United Nations and the new UN Secretary-General to achieve a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution" to the Sahara issue, the spokesman added.
