The motion submitted Monday in Kigali by 28 member countries of the African Union (AU), requesting so-called "Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic" (SADR) to be "suspended" from the pan-African organization until the UN fixes the problem before the security Council, "in line with international law," said Senegalese President Macky Sall, quoted Tuesday by local media.

"Since SADR has not been recognized by the United Nations and other international organizations, it would have been fairer to wait for a self-determination referendum, for example, and then decide at continental level, "said the Senegalese head of state in Kigali, where he took part in the works of the 27th AU summit.

About the message of King Mohammed VI announcing the return of Morocco in the African bodies, the Senegalese president said he was "delighted" by the decision, saying that he himself "is one of the leaders who have asked Kingdom to join our African family".

Following the historic message by King Mohammed VI at the AU summit, 28 member countries of this organization, including Senegal, addressed Monday the Chadian President and current Chairman of the African Union, Idris Deby, a motion for the suspension of SADR activitities within AU, and all its organs, to enable the pan-African organization to play a constructive role and contribute positively to the efforts of the UN, for a final settlement to the regional dispute over the Sahara.
