The second edition of the Africa Women's Forum was organized in Dakhla on the theme "Women's South-South Cooperation".

This meeting, initiated by the International Institute for Security and Development, in partnership with the province of the region of Oued Ed-Dahab-Lagouira, brings together women ministers, parliamentarians, civil society actors and advisors from among others, Benin, Central African Republic, Mali, Senegal, Niger, Kenya, Gambia Democratic Congo, Mauritania, Tunisia, Niger and Madagascar. "


In a statement to MAP, the President of the International Institute for Security and Development, also president of the Africa Women's Forum Foundation, Naima Korchi, said that this unprecedented event is an opportunity to exchange on leadership and its contribution to development in Africa.


This Forum will enact a new look at the experiences of participating countries in terms of female leadership and women's role in the development of the continent, she argued, adding that this edition will examine means fostering the emergence of a female African leadership in the economic, political and legal context.


In a similar statement, the president of the Oued Ed-Dahab Dakhla region Ynja Khattat said that the organization of this forum is an opportunity to highlight the achievements of the Kingdom in the promotion of women's rights, noting that Moroccan women have always been central to the momentum of reform.


He said that Morocco has taken significant steps in the consecration of equality and promotion of women which has been reinforced by the constitution of 2011 and the adoption of the gender approach in structural projects launched parallel to the construction of the advanced regionalization.


The inaugural session of the event, which lasts three days, was attended by the Wali of the region of Oued Ed-Dahab-Lagouira Lamine Benomar, and was marked by exhibitions by the participating women.
