The Agency for Economic and Social Promotion and Development of the southern provinces was a wise decision by HM King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the visit to the southern provinces in March 2002, to establish emerging economic centers taking into account the tangible and intangible and human capital of the region, said the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Interior, Mr. Cherki Drais.
A statement released by the Interior Ministry, said that Mr. Cherki Drais highlighted during the inauguration of the new head of the agency Mr. El Jabrane Raklaoui Friday, the achievements of this institution.
The agency has achived since 2004 (over 3,000 projects), as reported by the Minister who added it also faces challenges and reforms in terms of governance of public policies .
At the ceremony, attended by the walis and governors of regions of Laayoune-Boujdour-Sakia El Hamra and Oued Ed-Dahab-Lagouira Guelmim-Smara, as well as the Presidents of regions in addition to parliamentarians and President of Communes, civil society and economic actors, the minister said that the appointment of the new director is part of ongoing process whose mission is to ensure skills to the development of human and territorial wealth, while strengthening territorial governance through skilled, reputable frameworks that put the administration at the service of citizens.
On this occasion the Minister thanked the former director of the agency Mr. Ahmed Haji, for the efforts he has provided during his mandate as the Agency chief.
