"Morocco is not alone. We were, are and always will be on his side," said Dussey at a press briefing following a meeting with foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar, adding that Togo backs the UN-brokered peace process.

Dussey also highlighted Morocco's political and economic progress, stressing that his country wishes to benefit from the Moroccan expertize in the different sectors, notably infrastructure, health, energy, education and agriculture.

The minister seized this occasion to announce the upcoming opening of Togo's embassy in Rabat.

Mezouar said the meeting was an occasion to reaffirm Togo's firm position over the Moroccan Sahara. "Togo plays an important role regionally and internationally in defending the legitimacy of Morocco's territorial integrity and supporting the UN process concerning this artificial conflict," he added.
