Mr. Lachhab said in an interview with the "Sputnik" Russian news agency that the artificial conflict over the Sahara "is the result of the interference of regional parties in Morocco's internal affairs with sole ambition to establish their leadership and hegemony in the region. 

The Moroccan diplomat added that Morocco, which has continued to show good faith in the Maghreb Union and its positive impact on the peoples of the region, stressing that the Kingdom has spared no effort to contribute to find a solution to this conflict.

He added that the autonomy plan in the southern provinces, which was proposed by Morocco in 2007 following the impasse as a political, final, just and mutually acceptable solution, was warmly welcomed by the international community and welcomed as "serious" and "credible".

Mr. Lachahb has also noted that the other parties to the conflict showed no new realistic proposal and persisted in opposing the UN resolutions on the matter, including those on the identification of populations sequestered in Tindouf camps to continue to benefit from international humanitarian aid that has been diverted since 2006.

 In this regard, the ambassador referred to the reports published by several non-governmental organizations, which have warned against the exploitation of the suffering of the people in the camps by "Polisario" calling to establish strict control over the distribution of the aid to prevent their embezzlement.

On relations between Morocco and Russia, the diplomat said that the two countries are united by strong and historical ties, noting that the strategic partnership process initiated in 2002 by the two leaders "will in the sense deepen bilateral relations in the political, economic and cultural fields".

 He noted that relations between the two countries have witnessed over the past two years, through the strengthening of cooperation in economic field, stressing that trade reached over $ 2.5 billion adding in this regard the inaugural Business Forum in June 2014 in the presence of several ministers of the 5th session of the high Moroccan-Russian joint commission of the 2nd session of the military commission of the sub-Committee on Fisheries and Moroccan participation in the International Food and Beverages Show ''Prodexpo'' in Moscow.

Regarding the reforms adopted by Morocco, the ambassador reviewed the various projects of reforms undertaken by the Kingdom in the political, economic and social fields, including the adoption of the 2011 Constitution, reconciliation with the past by the establishment of transitional justice, launch of National Human Development Initiative (INDH), reform of Family Code, Green Morocco Plan, Halieutis Plan on sea fishing and Planning Emergence in the industrial field.

He also emphasized that these reforms are a model at the regional level, given that Morocco knows stability and offers significant investment opportunities, despite the difficult global economic environment, which allows to play a leading role in the regional space.
