The + Frontieras + film by Moroccan director Farida Belyazid dedicated entirely to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, was screened Saturday night in Buenos Aires as part of the week of Moroccan cinema, held in the Argentine capital of November 3-8.


Long-fiction 110 minutes +Frontieras+ invites moviegoers to visit many regions and cities of the Moroccan Sahara. The script, which combines techniques of documentary and fiction, is based on the character of Maite, a young Spanish director (played by Romina Sanchez) who makes a journey to investigate the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

Fooled by false enemies of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom theses, Maite is aware of the inaccuracy of its ideas and discovers the truth about the Moroccan Sahara after working with the Saharawi people and their commitment to mother country and after consulting with historians, teachers, anthropologists, political activists, leaders of non-governmental organizations, activists and civil society citizens.

The film also highlights the culture of the Moroccan Sahara through music, dances (El Guedra), poetry, cuisine, habits and customs of its inhabitants, their festivals and souks (Tan Tan moussem) with beautiful scenic landscapes and ancient monuments in the cities of Laayoune, Dakhla, Smara, Tan Tan and Tarfaya, the museum Maa El Aïnine and objects that belonged to the french writer and pilot Antoine de Saint Exupery .

The screening was attended by many moviegoers from Argentina was followed by a debate in which Morocco's ambassador in Buenos Aires, Fouad Yazourh said that Frontieras is a response to the maneuvers of the enemies of integrity territory of the Kingdom to mislead the public about the Moroccan Sahara issue through the falsification of history and use of false propaganda. Mr. Yazourh notably informed the audience about the reality of the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara and the efforts of the Kingdom to find a peaceful solution to this issue.

The problem over the Moroccan Sahara was created in the context of the cold war by the enemies of the Kingdom in order to prevent it from completing its territorial integrity, said Mr. Yazourh, adding that the separatist thesis is doomed to failure due to the attachment of the people of the southern provinces to their Moroccan and their constant defense of the territorial integrity of their country.


He said in this regard the efforts made by Morocco to find a political solution to the dispute through the autonomy initiative for the southern provinces proposed by the Kingdom in 2007. The Moroccan initiative, presented at the UN and developed on the basis of a "participatory and inclusive approach of all the sensitivities" of the southern provinces, offer the people of this region the opportunity to manage their own affairs themselves, under Moroccan sovereignty "in a democratic and transparent framework, "said Mr. Yazourh.
