The announcement was made in a joint communiqué signed following talks between Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Peruvian counterpart, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The communiqué states that Peru “expressed its readiness to open a Consulate in the city of Dakhla, which will serve as a platform for access to African markets for Peruvian products.”
The communiqué further underscores Peru’s full support for “Resolution 2797, adopted by the United Nations Security Council in October 2025, which gave new impetus to the process of settling the dispute over the Sahara on the basis of the aforementioned Moroccan Initiative.”
