 The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Friday in Rabat with a US Congressional delegation composed of members from both the Republican and Democratic parties.
The American delegation, led by Representative Vern Buchanan, is currently visiting Morocco to learn firsthand about the major projects undertaken by the Kingdom under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, according to a press release from the House of Representatives.
During this meeting, both parties highlighted the strong, historic, and long-standing relations uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America, the same source specified.
On this occasion, Talbi El Alami expressed his thanks and appreciation to the United States for its steadfast position in favor of Morocco's territorial integrity and its support for the Kingdom's sovereignty over its entire territory, adding that Morocco, in line with the High Royal Guidelines, works toward the peaceful resolution of disputes, in full respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
The talks also provided an opportunity to exchange views on bilateral parliamentary relations and to learn about the specificities of the political systems and parliamentary experiences in both countries, while praising the depth and importance of parliamentary cooperation.
Emphasis was also placed on the need to capitalize on the opportunities available to strengthen this cooperation at both the bilateral and multilateral levels.
During this meeting, Talbi El Alami reviewed the strategic projects initiated by the Kingdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, highlighting the development moment underway in the various regions of Morocco, particularly the Southern provinces, and the opportunities available to consolidate economic, commercial, and cultural relations between the two countries in various fields.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives and the members of the US Congress also discussed numerous regional and international issues of mutual interest, particularly those related to parliamentary action.
