Panama’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javier Martínez-Acha Vasquez, reaffirmed, on Tuesday in New York, his country’s support for the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco for the definitive resolution of the regional dispute on the Moroccan Sahara.

“We reiterate today our support for the autonomy plan” presented by Morocco for the definitive resolution of the dispute on the Sahara, Panama’s head of diplomacy told the press following a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly.

Panama and Morocco have “the best possible relations,” Martínez-Acha Vasquez welcomed, noting in this respect that cooperation ties between Morocco and Panama are “solid, tight and mutually beneficial in more than one respect.”

He added that his meeting with Bourita provided an opportunity to highlight the excellent bilateral ties and delve into several issues of mutual interest.

“We also spoke about the different issues on which we had worked during my recent visit to Morocco, mainly trade, security, education and development of businesses,” the Panamanian minister concluded.
