The chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (Corcas), Khalihenna Ould Errachid, met on Monday, January 30, 2023, with Jaime Quintana, President of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Chilean Senate, who is on a working visit to Morocco until February 4.

During this meeting, Corcas chief met with the President of the Foreign Relations Commission at the Chilean Senate to discuss the latest developments in the Moroccan Sahara issue.
These include the Moroccan initiative autonomy to the Moroccan Sahara region.

In this regard, CORCAS head highlighted the relevance of this initiative, whose text was formulated by Sahrawis, represented by the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, then presented by the Kingdom to the United Nations in 2007, as a courageous and fair initiative to break the stalemate.

This initiative is currently the subject of almost unanimous support from the international community, with a veritable tidal wave of favorable positions from UN member countries over the past two years.

It is therefore the only basis for a solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.

The meeting was attended on behalf of Corcas by Secretary General Dr. Maouelainin Ben Khallihenna Maouelainin and Moulay Ahmed Mghizlat, CORCAS member.
