The Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (Corcas) takes part, as part of the official delegation of the Kingdom of Morocco, in the 51st session of the Human Rights Council (HRC), which begins today, Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva and will continue until October 7.


At this session, Corcas is represented by a delegation consisting of Moulay Ahmed Mghizlate and Saadani Maoulainine, CORCAS members.
During this session, the HRC will consider many reports in addition to the usual organizational and procedural issues.

Among the documents on the agenda of this session is the Mid-term report on the implementation of the fourth phase of the World Programme for Human Rights Education, which reports on the measures that States have taken during the fourth phase (2020-2024) of the World Programme for Human Rights Education. It provides a synthesis of the information received from 17 States and includes conclusions and recommendations to strengthen human rights education and training for young people.

There is also the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on the role of local governments in the promotion of human rights.

For his part, the Secretary General presents a report with the High Commissioner on what has been done to give effect to the right to development and obstacles that had to be overcome in the context of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and recovery. It also provides an overview of the activities of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in the field of the promotion and realization of the right to development.

In total, the Council will consider more than 80 reports submitted by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, human rights experts and other fact-finding bodies on over 40 themes.
