Some 3,868 candidates in the region of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra are vying to win 431 seats in the legislative, regional and communal elections, scheduled for September 8.


In the province of Laayoune, 2,013 candidates are running for 143 seats in the upcoming elections.


As for the communal elections, 1,204 candidates from 28 lists are competing for the 43 seats allocated to the municipality of Laayoune, while 225 candidates in the individual ballot are running to win 76 seats in the territorial communities of El Marsa, Boukraâ, Dcheira and Foum El Oued.


Regarding the regional elections, the number of lists in the running has reached 25 lists, comprising 400 candidates, to obtain 16 seats out of a total of 39 that the council of the region Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra.


As for the legislative elections at the local and regional level, 46 competing lists (184 candidates), including 23 lists in the local constituency (69 candidates) are vying for three seats representing the province in Parliament, 23 lists in the regional constituency and a list of women (115 candidates) vying for 5 seats representing the four provinces of the region (Laâyoune, Boujdour, Es-Semara and Tarfaya)


In the province of Es-Semara, 1,127 candidates are running for 131 seats in the legislative, regional and communal elections.


In the communal elections, 713 candidates belonging to 23 lists are fighting for the 31 seats allocated to the municipality of Es-Semara, in addition to 199 candidates in the individual ballot to win 80 seats in the territorial communities of Sidi Ahmed Laaroussi, Jdireya, El Haouza, Tifariti and Amgala.


Regarding the regional elections, the number of lists in contention was 21 (189 candidates), to fill the 9 seats allocated to the province in the regional council of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra.


As for the local legislative elections, the number of competing lists stood at 13 with 26 candidates vying for the two seats allocated to this province in Parliament.


In the province of Tarfaya, the number of candidates vying for 89 seats reached 284 candidates in the legislative, regional and communal elections.


In the communal elections, 229 individual candidates are running to win 82 seats in the communes of Tarfaya, Akhfenir, Tah, Doura and Hagounia.


For the regional elections, 7 lists with 35 candidates will compete for the 5 seats allocated to the province out of the 39 seats of the regional council. As for the legislative elections, the number of competing lists has reached 10, with 20 candidates vying for the two seats allocated to this province.


In the province of Boujdour, 444 candidates are running for 89 seats in the September 8 elections.


For the communal elections, 294 candidates in the individual ballot are competing for 78 seats in the communes of Boujdour, Jrifeya, Lamsid and Gueltat Zemmour.


Regarding the regional elections, 14 lists comprising 126 candidates competing for 9 seats allocated to the province in the Council of the region of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra.


As for the local legislative elections, the number of competing lists reached 12 lavac 24 candidates, vying for the two seats allocated to this province.
