The Acting Consul General of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Laayoune, Issa Al-Balushi, stressed Monday the determination of his country to engage in the development process in the southern provinces of the Kingdom.


Speaking at the opening of the Laayoune Morocco-United Arab Emirates Business Forum, the UAE diplomat praised the dynamics of integrated development in the Moroccan Sahara regions, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.


Mr. Al-Balushi noted that the holding of this forum reflects the excellence of the long-standing fraternal relations between the two countries, noting that this new phase of bilateral cooperation is looking to the future through the promotion of qualitative investments, in accordance with the vision of the two Heads of State, HM King Mohammed VI and his brother HH Sheikh Khalifa Ben Zayed Al Nahyane, President of the State of the United Arab Emirates.


While welcoming the reform projects launched in the Kingdom under the enlightened leadership of HM the King, the UAE Consul General in Laayoune reiterated the support of his country to Morocco in various international and regional forums, especially on the issue of territorial integrity.


For his part, the Secretary General of the UAE International Investors Council (UAEIIC), Jamal Saif Al Jarwan, highlighted the tangible impacts of strengthening trade and economic ties on the bilateral strategic partnership.


The UAE and Morocco are driven by a strong desire to boost their relations through the establishment of several cooperation mechanisms, said Mr. Al Jarwan, adding that the UAEIIC aims to explore investment opportunities to build partnerships with friendly countries.


Placed under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, the Business Forum of Laayoune aims to promote the region to the Emirati economic operators and support them in investment, partnerships and trade.


This event, organized by the Regional Council of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra and the Moroccan Agency for Investment Development and Exports (AMDIE), also aims to consider new investment partnerships between the private and public sectors Morocco-Emirati in the fields of agriculture, livestock and fisheries, mining, renewable energy, construction and tourism.


Held under the sign "A new perspective, new partnerships", the forum is marked by the organization of several panels and thematic workshops during which experts and Moroccan and Emirati businessmen will discuss the assets and needs of the local market in key sectors such as high value-added industry, agriculture and maritime fishing, logistics and transport, as well as renewable energy.
