President of the National Assembly of Serbia Ivica Dačić stressed, Wednesday in Rabat, the importance to promote cooperation with Morocco and strengthen coordination on questions of mutual interest.

Speaking at a joint press briefing following his meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki, the Serbian official called for the promotion of bilateral economic cooperation and student exchange.

Dačić, who is on a working visit to Morocco with a large delegation, recalled the historical relations uniting the two countries, calling for further cooperation in other fields.

He also said that the issue of territorial integrity remains fundamental, while welcoming the Moroccan autonomy initiative.

The Serbian official also highlighted the actions taken by the Kingdom for the management of the Covid-19 pandemic, noting that the two countries were able to provide large quantities of vaccines and curb the spread of the virus.

For his part, El Malki said that the visit of the Serbian official in Morocco, which comes in a particular context, reflects the historical friendship between the two countries and the two peoples.

Parliamentary diplomacy is based on UN principles, including those relating to respect for the unity of peoples and states, added El Malki, welcoming the position of Serbia in supporting the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

The talks between the two officials focused on the prospects for bilateral and tripartite cooperation (Morocco-Serbia-Africa), said El Malki, noting that Morocco and Serbia are distinguished by their geostrategic positions, which will help give new impetus to South-South cooperation.
